a not so funny thing happened to me the other day

I saw an awful occurrence while finishing my night in the city on Saturday. I thought all the reports in the news were fabrications, I go out all the time and not until Saturday had I seen face to face the violence in our city. On every corner there seemed to be quarrelling, drunken persons throwing up, or the blue and red flashing lights from both the police and ambulance. Then I saw first hand a brutal, racial attack on helpless and defenceless young men. Ten against four. One blow to the face, an unprovoked attack, an unconscious boy on the floor. I felt sick to my stomach, I was standing next to the incident and the men that started the fight sheepishly ran off high fiving each other. They did not get far, we could not step in and lend a fist but we could run to the police, and what a sprint we did. The gang of men split up but they culprit was caught, handcuffed and taken away. Will he regret his actions - no, will he do it again - yes, will violence stop - no. I know this is a dampener on the rest of the things I blog about but I have two younger brothers that go out, friends and relatives that go out I am scared for them. How can they avoid situations like this if they happen completely unprovoked. Help stop the violence.
